We are assisting a leading contractor included in FTSE 250 with a turnover of over £150 million involved in the Fit Out and Main Contracting projects for their search for an experienced Design Manager in the Central London region. As a Design Manager you will oversee the design phase of construction projects, ensuring that all designs are functional, meet the client requirements, and comply with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
Manage the design phase of construction projects from concept to completion, implementing design strategies that align with project goals and requirements.
Work closely with architects, engineers, and other design professionals to generate and finalise designs.
Work with construction teams to ensure design feasibility and integration with construction plans & requirements.
Manage quality control processes to ensure lofty standards of designs, identifying and addressing any issues immediately.
Manage design budgets, ensure cost-effective use of resources, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Give regular updates on design progress and any issues to clients and senior management.
Oversee the team of design professionals and provide guidance, training, and support to team members as needed, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Proficient in reading & interpreting drawings.
Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Proven accomplishments as Design Manager within construction.
Proven record of accomplishments in managing design phases of large- scale projects ideally in Fit Out and Main Contracting projects.
Strong understanding of traditional and modern methods of construction.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem- solving skills.
Proficient in Design Management software and tools such as CAD programs and Revit.
