As a Design Manager, you will lead and oversee a team of engineers and designers to deliver high-quality civil designs, ensuring they meet project requirements, comply with industry standards, and align with client needs. This role is ideal for someone with a proven track record in managing design processes and ensuring project success. **What You'll Be Doing:** + Manage a team of civil designers and engineers to develop, implement, and deliver high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective civil designs across various types of projects. + Oversee the preparation and review of design calculations, drawings, and documentation prepared by the design team. + Ensure civil design activities align with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. + Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g., structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural) to ensure civil systems integrate seamlessly within the overall project design. + Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their requirements are fully understood and met throughout the design process. + Present design solutions and conduct design reviews with clients to ensure satisfaction and project success. + Conduct thorough quality checks and reviews of all deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications. + Implement and maintain design review processes to minimize errors and optimize the design process. + Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback to junior designers and engineers to foster professional growth and continuous learning within the team. + Encourage a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment within the department. + Provide technical guidance and problem-solving expertise for complex design challenges. + Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in civil engineering design. + Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any issues or delays that arise. + Work closely with project managers to ensure alignment between design and project objectives. + Identify areas of improvement within the design process and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. + Promote continuous improvement in design methodologies, workflows, and team collaboration. **What Required Skills You'll Bring:** + Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. + A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is a plus. + A minimum of 15 years of experience in civil design, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role. + Proven experience in managing civil design projects across various sectors, including but not limited to commercial, residential, transportation, and infrastructure. + Experience in managing teams of engineers and designers, ensuring successful project delivery. **What Desired Skills You'll Bring:** + Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and other relevant design software. + Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, ASTM, etc.). + Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. + Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities. + Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure client satisfaction. + Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies. + Knowledge of budgeting, cost management, and scheduling practices. **Minimum Clearance Required to Start:** Not Applicable/None Parsons is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
