**Job Description:**
**Parsons** is seeking an experienced and highly skilled **Design Manager - Civil** to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil design management, with expertise in managing design teams for a variety of projects across different sectors. As a Design Manager, you will lead and oversee a team of engineers and designers to deliver high-quality civil designs, ensuring they meet project requirements, comply with industry standards, and align with client needs.
The successful candidate will bring leadership experience, strong technical knowledge in civil engineering, and a passion for innovation in design management. This role is ideal for someone with a proven track record in managing design processes and ensuring project success.
**What You'll Be Doing:**
+ Manage a team of civil designers and engineers to develop, implement, and deliver high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective civil designs across various types of projects.
+ Oversee the preparation and review of design calculations, drawings, and documentation prepared by the design team.
+ Ensure civil design activities align with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
+ Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g., structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural) to ensure civil systems integrate seamlessly within the overall project design.
+ Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their requirements are fully understood and met throughout the design process.
+ Present design solutions and conduct design reviews with clients to ensure satisfaction and project success.
+ Conduct thorough quality checks and reviews of all deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications.
+ Implement and maintain design review processes to minimize errors and optimize the design process.
+ Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback to junior designers and engineers to foster professional growth and continuous learning within the team.
+ Encourage a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment within the department.
+ Provide technical guidance and problem-solving expertise for complex design challenges.
+ Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in civil engineering design.
+ Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any issues or delays that arise.
+ Work closely with project managers to ensure alignment between design and project objectives.
+ Identify areas of improvement within the design process and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
+ Promote continuous improvement in design methodologies, workflows, and team collaboration.
**What Required Skills You'll Bring:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
+ A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is a plus.
+ A minimum of 15 years of experience in civil design, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
+ Proven experience in managing civil design projects across various sectors, including but not limited to commercial, residential, transportation, and infrastructure.
+ Experience in managing teams of engineers and designers, ensuring successful project delivery.
**What Desired Skills You'll Bring:**
+ Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and other relevant design software.
+ Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, ASTM, etc.).
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure client satisfaction.
+ Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
+ Knowledge of budgeting, cost management, and scheduling practices.
