Job Description:
Parsons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager - MEP to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the design and management of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems for industrial and manufacturing projects. As a Designer Manager, you will lead and oversee a team of engineers and designers in delivering high-quality MEP designs for industrial facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
The successful candidate will have expertise in industrial manufacturing environments and will play a crucial role in providing technical leadership, design innovation, and project management for a variety of challenging projects.
What You'll Be Doing:
Lead and manage a team of MEP designers and engineers in developing and implementing innovative, efficient, and cost-effective MEP designs for industrial and manufacturing projects.
Review and approve design calculations, drawings, and documentation prepared by the design team.
Ensure MEP systems integrate seamlessly with the overall project design, coordinating with other disciplines (structural, civil, architectural, etc.).
Coordinate MEP design activities to meet project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of design with client requirements and project objectives.
Monitor and report on project progress, providing guidance to the design team to resolve issues that may arise.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their requirements are met throughout the design process.
Conduct presentations and design reviews with clients to ensure satisfaction and project success.
Provide technical expertise and support to clients in selecting appropriate MEP systems for industrial and manufacturing facilities.
Ensure all MEP design work complies with relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
Conduct thorough quality checks on all deliverables, ensuring accuracy and completeness of designs.
Implement and maintain design review processes to minimize errors and optimize the design process.
Mentor and coach junior designers and engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth.
Provide performance evaluations and feedback to design team members, ensuring high levels of productivity and engagement.
Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a strong sense of teamwork within the department.
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in MEP systems, particularly within the industrial and manufacturing sectors.
Offer technical guidance and problem-solving expertise for complex design challenges.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in MEP design, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Proven experience in industrial and manufacturing project environments, with a deep understanding of the unique MEP requirements in these sectors.
Strong experience in the design of complex MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other industrial-specific systems.
