Job Purpose
In this role you will be part of Canoo’s Battery Pack Team within the Propulsion group and will be the leader of current and forward-looking Battery and Energy Storage solutions including Battery Pack Design. As the Project Lead you will be expected to communicate cross-functionally across all engineering disciplines to engineer and deliver high quality Battery Pack and Energy Storage Solutions(s) for vehicle production.
Responsibilities (80s of the Position)
Perform design activities such as concept module development from cell. This mechanical, electrical and thermal. Design of a concept within the vehicle space constraints Design for safety and operation of pack- Mechanical structural design Integration of electrical systems Design of thermal system for battery pack thermal management Integrate GR&T, stack up analysis and design for manufacturability and assembly Design of HV bus bars and wiring harness. Manage the Bill of Material. Manage all change requests. Create drawings based on parametric CAD models per ANSI and ISO standards Design iteration management in close collaboration with all teamsRequired Experience
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a strong mechanical background. Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in HV battery design. Very Strong CAD tool skills such as CATIA, SOLIDWORKS etc. Familiarity developing a product from concept to production Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to guide and lead cross-functional teams.Preferred Experience
Master’s degree in in Mechanical Engineering or related field More than 5 years engineering experience Must have excellent understanding of Battery pack housing, structure and cover, module integration, thermal system, integration of E/E components, HV bus bars and system & Wiring harness Working experience in the design of injection molded engineering plastics, seals, machining, diecast aluminum, and stamped metal parts. Should have experience designing parts requiring joining techniques namely fastening, welding and adhesives Strong knowledge of engineering materials. Should have good understanding of different materials and grades Familiarity with automotive standards Proficient in Catia V6 (3D Experience) or similar mechanical CAD tools or electrical schematic and layout toolsTravel Requirements
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% depending on program phase.Physical Requirements for Non-Physical Positions
