PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Design Technician to join our dynamic team within the energy sector. If you're passionate about creating innovative designs and contributing to projects that power communities, this is your chance to be a key player in our exciting and growing team.
About the Role: As a Design Technician, you will be responsible for preparing construction-ready design drawings and coordinating multiple aspects of interior and construction-related projects. Your role will have a significant impact on our company’s ability to deliver top-tier design and construction services while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations. You will work directly with engineers and other team members to produce high-quality designs for both our clients and internal needs, ensuring all projects are executed efficiently and within scope.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce detailed design drawings using automated/GIS products, maps, exhibits, and reports.
Maintain the Smallworld database, including Schematic and Field Installation Records (FIR).
Work under the direction of senior designers to ensure design drawings meet industry standards.
Integrate engineering and geographic data to construct required design products.
Perform engineering calculations and prepare for distribution system designs.
Submit permit requests to municipalities and governmental agencies.
Coordinate with departments to secure equipment inspections, surveys, and easement acquisitions.
Conduct field checks to verify the accuracy of maps and designs.
Assist in the development of GIS applications and mapping procedures.
Recommend process improvements to enhance project efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
Experience in CAD, MSD, Design Technician, GIS Technician, Engineering Technician, or similar roles.
Strong experience with AutoCAD (preferred).
Familiarity with GIS systems and distribution design processes.
Knowledge of engineering calculations for distribution designs.
Detail-oriented, organized, and proficient at managing multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working within the energy or utilities sector.
Knowledge of SRP design, construction, and maintenance standards.
Experience working with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

Pay Details: $29.50 per hour
