About the Role 

As a Furniture Designer, you will be under the direction of the Furniture Design Vice President and Head Design Manager. You will develop big ideas, graphic concepts and furniture designs that achieve overall product strategy and merchant objectives on a seasonal basis. You will manage design execution for upholstered seating and wood furniture, leading the product development process by working with major international home-goods manufacturers/vendors.

Responsibilities 

Execute entire design process for a given season.  Research and develop seasonal trends, themes, concepts, color, fabric and styling and/or product form, function and manufacturing processes.  Own the Occasional Seating category which includes bean bags, occasional chairs, sectionals, soft seating, vanity/desk seating, dorm headboards, new fabrics and furs. Design into the storage and study category which including desks, bookcases and vanities. Repeatedly create furniture designs that support merchant needs lists, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.  Ensure product design package is complete, accurate and handed off to engineers, in-country partners and vendors.  Maintains brand “Point of View” each season in collaboration with internal business partners.  Create and deliver effective, cohesive product presentations to "sell" concepts to merchants. Communicate effectively through the design lifecycle.  Focus on seasonal calendars and meet all deadlines.  Strong organizational skills and scheduling skills.  Demonstrate effective cross-functional & vendor-relations skills. Track samples and organize sample set-up to ensure all is approved in a timely manner.

Criteria

Minimum 5 years of product design experience in home goods & furniture. Full proficiency in Mac operating systems with skilled excellence in SketchUp, Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD, and additional 3D rendering programs.   Demonstrates strong attention to detail with the ability to design and manage multiple projects/seasons simultaneously. Strong sketching and ideation skills.  Solid experience communicating with international vendors. High level of design aesthetic. This role requires being onsite in the San Francisco office

The expected starting pay range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
