What is the Opportunity?

 

Xtreme Powerline Construction (“Xtreme”), is an electrical distribution utility contractor in Port Huron, Michigan. Xtreme specializes in overhead distribution line repair, maintenance, and expansion services throughout the Eastern United States, and provides emergency restoration services for numerous clients across the U.S.

Reporting to the Project Manager the Project Designer will be responsible for all facets of design for our existing and perspective Utility clients.
 
What You'll Do Here:


•    Complete design drawings and calculations that satisfy all the applicable code and regulation requirements for electrical utility projects in collaboration with engineering staff. 
•    Assist in the preparation of design schedules, material / labor estimates, permit applications and construction packages.
•    Conduct pre-design inspections, worksite visits and construction support.
•    Assist with the preparation of reports regarding the status and results of completed and in-progress design projects.
•    Prepare technical reports as required by the client and project team.
•    Utilize various utility design software and tools.
•    Liaises with clients, contractors, field staff and other stakeholders.
•    Performs other duties as required.
 
What You Bring to the Team:


•    Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in engineering or equivalent discipline is an asset
•    3 – 5 years’ experience designing and drafting OH & UG electrical distribution systems.
•    Working toward Michigan P.E.is considered an asset.
•    Experience with DTE specifications and standards is an asset.
•    Proficient with the use of computers and software, including Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, AutoCAD software, Bentley MicroStation / ProjectWise, SAP, SpidaCalc, Quick Pole, AGi32 streetlighting software and 3-D software experience is considered an as-set.
•    Ability to travel for projects (Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required).
•    Proven people and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
•    Able to work under and meet tight deadlines. 
•    Proven ability to take initiative and leadership.
•    Strong problem-solving skills.
