Designer – Workplace Interiors – Mid-level

Your Role

As a Designer for workplace interiors, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. As a member of this team, you will be asked to collaborate with senior designers and design directors and participate in all phases of the project. Project types include commercial workplaces; including professional service firms, financial services firms, and technology companies. Attributes that will make you successful in the position include and are not limited to, being a self-starter and holistic design thinker who is not afraid to ask questions and actively participates in generating design ideas. What You Will Do

Work in a team environment and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on varying project types.

Collaborate on workplace interior design assignments that include programming, project strategy, client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, consultant coordination, construction documents, construction administration and management of budgets and schedules

Coordinate with junior team members and project architects on delivery of project milestones

Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, lighting, and furniture specifications

Produce graphic presentations including 3D renderings for client presentations

Contribute to the production of plans, elevations, details, specifications, and material selections needed for construction

Generate finish plans, specifications and material selections

Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts

Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, contractors, fabricators and other vendors to meet overall project objectives

Clearly communicate your design ideas to the project team

Participate and contribute to office and firm culture

Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination

Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships


Your Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited school

5-10+ years of experience as a Designer

Proficient in Revit, SketchUp, 3D, including Enscape, VRay, Grasshopper, Rhino and other visualization software

Strong knowledge of the design process, including FF+E, furniture systems and specifications, color and materials

Outstanding conceptual 3-dimensional thinking and graphic presentation skills to effectively communicate design ideas

Strong Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, a plus

Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development

Strong conceptual thinker

Close attention to detail and technical abilities

Highly capable in communicating design ideas and direction effectively and quickly

A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

Strong leadership, organization, communication, and relationship management skills

Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices; Portfolios should include at least one project (especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, Passive House, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification) with this particular focus, which we look forward to discussing during the interview
