Desktop Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for supporting equipment in a Microsoft and iOS environment, from design through implementation. Performs a wide variety of installation, configuration, and upgrading of workstations, servers, and related hardware and software. Provides investigation, diagnostic testing and repair/resolution of system, hardware, software and infrastructure.

 

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides subject matter expertise in enterprise IT systems BigFix, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), Microsoft Autopilot, platforms in a complex Windows 10 and Windows 11 environment.Designs, deploys, and maintains Operating System images through BigFix task sequences, and Azure AD/Hybrid Autopilot Provisioning including troubleshooting escalations from IT Support teams.Solves complex technical problems for Desktop PC, Laptops, Peripherals, and Mobile Devices as well as Telecom services and email services.Administers tools for encryption, patching, endpoint protection and backup of all endpoints.Prepares documentation relevant to the configuration and maintenance of desktop, endpoints and trains other employees on how to perform related tasks.Adheres to change control processes and procedures.Accurately documents and communicates instances of system failures, repairs, installations, or changes.Leads or contributes on various department projects; assists in integrating specialty hardware, software, and scripting functionality to resolve and or enhance the unit’s computing environment; develops specialized applications; may undertake small programming projects for company-wide implementation (e.g. installation, configuration and automation of software).Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: - Requires a high school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent. Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred.

 

Experience: Minimum of 4-5 years related experience.

Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)MCSANetwork Certifications

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills, in addition to in-depth technical knowledge of On-Premises Active Directory, Azure Active Directory Group Policies, PowerShell, LDAP, Bigfix, Microsoft Intune (MEM), Microsoft or other similar tools.Strong proficiency in Application packaging via BigFix, and Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Microsoft Intune), Win32Apps to support existing and new applications for End-User space Proficiency in Patching processes and compliance utilizing WSUS, BigFix, Third-Party in both End User and Manufacturing environments.Expert knowledge and demonstrated technical proficiency deploying software and configurations utilizing software deployment tools within a large environmentShows aptitude, initiative and follow through, and has strong project management skillsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products for support, reporting and documentation. Proficient knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office 365 (i.e., Word, Excel).Very strong aptitude with common operating systems, software applications and computer hardware.High level of networking and database knowledge.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to provide technical support over the phone with a professional demeanor.Very strong problem solving skills; ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.Ability to handle constantly changing flow of traffic; remain productive during slow times, multitask effectively during busy times, exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations.Ability to work with or without direct supervision.Ability to communicate complex or business critical issues with supervisors as they become known.Basic Spanish speaking a plus.Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior.


Physical Requirements: - Ability to speak/hear clearly in person and on the telephone. Ability to operate a computer keyboard. Ability and willingness to travel, as needed. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required to meet business needs. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

The range for this position is $38.37-$53.75 (hourly) and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
