The position of Desktop Publishing Specialist is a key player at TransPerfect. This position reports to the Desktop Publishing Manager. You will be a part of a team of full-time and freelance graphic designers/typesetters. Through a mix of project management and hands-on desktop publishing, you will define, develop, and manage the client project lifecycle. In addition, you will assist your team with analyzing, and troubleshooting foreign language data to be used in publishing products. Position responsibilities:Manage production of desktop publishing (DTP) projects using InDesign, Quark, and other desktop publishing applicationsPerform daily hands-on DTP of multiple projects in coordination with Project ManagersCoordinate and communicate with other DTP Specialists, freelancers, DTP agencies, Project Managers, and other production team members, in various offices and time zones, to ensure project deadlines are metTroubleshoot technical issuesPerform other special projects or duties when required
Qualifications, skills and experience:Bachelor’s DegreeAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentAdvanced skills with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, Microsoft Office and other desktop publishing applicationsProficient in Mac and PC applicationSuperior written and spoken communication skillsMust be willing to learn new skills, be open to challenges and thrive on successWork well with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures, build relationships with co-workers, work as part of a team, and commit to a high level of service
 Valued but not required skills and experience: Competency with Flash/ActionScript Knowledge of a foreign language Prior translation industry experience
