Desktop Support Specialist :-
Candidate will be part of a team responsible for the day to day operations of an environment of about 650 users. Responsibilities will include: Desktop management to include imaging & deployment, software installation, system configuration. Management of Microsoft Windows 2008 & 2012 servers along with Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2012 & 2014. Managing backup systems. Managing RedHat / CENTOS Systems. Candidate will also be responsible for managing active directory user, machine and group accounts, troubleshooting of networking issues and inventory control. Some overt time and off-hours support would be required.
Skills Requirements:
The candidate should possess current, hands-on experience with:
-Significant experience administering and troubleshooting Windows 7 systems.
-Significant experience building, administering and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server 2008 & 2012.
-Significant experience as a Linux or Unix System Administrator.
-Strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory.
-Strong understanding of Symantec Backup Exec and ability to troubleshoot backup problems.
-Extensive background with installing, configuring and maintaining Red Hat/Centos Linux systems.
-Create / build Red Hat packages experience with yum or apt-get for installing updates.
-Experience with setting up local yum repositories.
-Experience with the setup, configuration, or management of a multi-node Hadoop clusters such as Cloudera and Hortonworks.
-Experience with automated deployment tools such as The Foreman, Puppet and Spacewalk.
-Strong knowledge of HP server hardware.
-Understanding of SMTP, DHCP, DNS, LDAP.
-Understanding of Scalable WinInstall, Microsoft SCCM, or similar tools.
-Strong knowledge of SQL database design including the ability to read ERDs and create SQL queries.
-Strong knowledge of Windows scripting - PowerShell, VBScript, DOS batch files.
-Ability to script and automate tasks in a variety of languages (bash, Perl, python, etc.).
-Familiarity with HTML and T-SQL required; knowledge of ASP .NET & Java is a plus.
-Experience with IOS, ACL, VLAN, TCP/IP, WLAN, & NAT.
-Ability to troubleshoot networking issues.
-Must be able to communicate issues to network support staff when required.
The candidate must possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
Desired Skills:
Experience with change management and disaster recovery concepts and tools.
Expert diagnostic and troubleshooting skills of highly intergraded complex environments.
Familiarity with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
Familiarity with Microsoft IIS Server management and configuration.
The ability to self-direct and work independently and mentor other staff members is greatly beneficial.
Experience with formal project management methodologies and tools are a plus.
Experience working as a government contractor.
Experience working with SSA customer.
Minimum experience and education: Candidates with a BS degree must have the minimum of 11 years or 132 months of work experience specific to the job description.
If a candidate has a Master’s degree, they still need a minimum of 11 years or 132 months of work experience but only nine years or 108 months of experience specific to the job. The other work experience to meet the 132 months does not have to be IT related.
Work experience while in college can be counted toward the overall years.
If no degree, work experience may be substituted.
Background clearance: All candidates selected will have to go through a Federal government background check prior to being able to start. Generally, the background process takes between 3,4 or 5 weeks. The time is dependent on how quickly the candidate is able to complete the paperwork.
Candidates will obtain a Public Trust clearance upon approval.
