Responsibilities

As a Developer in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, you will be a test developer and innovator who develops, innovates, evaluates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and [DT3]. Responsibilities include:

Actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Improving existing methods Implementing novel technology of proven validity Organizing new method validation dataPreparing data for publication and peer reviewParticipating in formal presentations

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. 



Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you much have either:

Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science and two years of relevant laboratory experience ORBachelor's degree, a certificate in MLS, and two years of relevant laboratory experience 

*A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. 

Additional Qualifications 

Microbiology expertise preferred. Technical proficiency in DNA extraction/purification, RNA extraction/purification, and PCR primer design (short & long range) is preferred.Master's degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology or Doctoral degree (PhD) in chemistry or a biological science preferred. Self-motivatedHighly organized, efficient, and able to work independently exercising strong decision-making skillExcellent written and verbal communication skills Capable of reproducing a reference method using available procedures without supervisionDemonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or proceduresExperience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of informationASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.

Schedule Details

Typically, Monday-Friday, dayshift with some flexibility for hours. Potential for some intermittent remote work as projects allow. Projects assigned will determine work location and could vary between downtown (Hilton building) and Superior Drive Support Center.

Weekend Schedule

No regularly scheduled weekends but could possibly be required based on specific project needs.
