Development Assistant
**Description** **About the Role** The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) seeks a full-time Development Assistant to provide administrative and operational support to the Development Team. The Development Assistant will work closely with the Events Manager and support the Development Team to advance the impact of NDI by building partnerships and securing resources from the private sector. The Development Team is looking for an enthusiastic individual with strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. The position is based in the Washington, DC region. **Your Purpose and Impact:** + Assist with scheduling, note-taking and general administrative support for the Development Team. + Provide logistical support for internal and external meetings and events. + Assist with maintaining files and preparing briefing materials. + Process travel-related transactions including hotel and airline reservations, per diem requests and expense reimbursements. + Record contributions, process gift invoices and receipts, prepare and send gift acknowledgements to donors, reconcile gift tracking with Finance records, develop spreadsheets with gift tracking, all in a timely manner + Support Development procurement and contracting activities. + Oversee the creation and maintenance of contact lists of donors and prospects; responsible for report generation and analysis of results, financial record keeping, billing, reconciliation with Finance. + Assist with prospect research, report writing and other fundraising-related administrative tasks. Provide copy-editing support on Development materials. + Provides high level assistance in organizational functions such as briefings and special events. + Participate in cross-functional initiatives as needed. + Actively seek and engage in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge in project/program management, and maintain a general working knowledge of relevant program trends and issues occurring external to NDI. + Perform other duties as required. **Minimum Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree, preferably in in a related field or equivalent experience + Experience with Salesforce, Network for Good and Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.) strongly desired + Math skills and the ability to perform accurate calculations and understand quantitative information + Basic research and analysis skills to allow for gathering, summarizing and presenting findings + Interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to interact effectively and diplomatically with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as externally both domestically and internationally with NDI partners, funders, and other stakeholders + Oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and through various communication media + An attention-to-detail, with a propensity to complete work accurately and with a focus on quality + Initiative and a basic level of proficiency in the ability to multitask and prioritize; manage time, perform project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills; and flexibility to adapt and respond to shifting priorities + Capacity to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team + Ability to apply discretion and maintain confidential information + Ability to travel internationally, as needed + Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of Google Suite tools preferred. Basic database skills are desired. This position offers an anticipated salary range of approximately $23.13 - $27.75. **Additional Information:** While there may be flexibility for remote/hybrid work environment and to comply with tax and legal obligations, successful candidates must be residents of MD, DC, or VA, or relocate prior to the start of employment at NDI.
