Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Donor Participation, the Development Assistant for Marketing and Donor Participation will actively contribute to The Penn Fund’s high-performing marketing team. They will be partially responsible for the creation and execution of some donor solicitation and stewardship communications. The Marketing Assistant will also develop the layout, design, and/or copy for these communications—both printed and digital. In summary, they will support the project manager(s) for various direct mail and/or email campaigns related to both solicitations and stewardship—helping to bring all valued supporters through the complete donor cycle—and will occasionally take the lead on more specific projects to targeted audiences. They will also partner with marketing team project managers on the maintenance of The Penn Fund’s website and social media as it pertains to comprehensive digital strategy.
Job Description
Specific Responsibilities:
+ Under guidance of the Director of Marketing and Donor Participation, actively support project management and execution related to The Penn Fund’s comprehensive integrated marketing efforts—primarily by putting into production completed projects managed by the Assistant and Associate Directors. (30%)
+ Assist with layout, design, and copy for some targeted solicitation and stewardship communications within The Penn Fund for editing and review by the entire marketing and leadership teams. (20%)
+ Implement any content-related updates to The Penn Fund’s website and/or social media channels, including but not limited to uploading and/or refreshing new assets and copy. (15%)
+ Provide excellent customer service to potential donor email and/or phone inquiries submitted to The Penn Fund, and assist with gift processing, credit card verification, or other donor support-related projects as needed. (15%)
+ Partner with fellow marketing team members to leverage new technology to cultivate, solicit, and steward Penn Fund prospects and donors. (10%)
+ Collaborate with colleagues across the University of Pennsylvania as well as peers from other colleges and universities to maximize outcomes and success. (5%)
+ Complete other special projects and duties as assigned by colleagues, including the Director and Executive Director. (5%)
Qualifications:
+ High School diploma required; BA/BS degree preferred.
+ Three to five years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
+ Desired skills include, but are not limited to, and may be described in other ways: excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, strong attention to detail, ability to organize and manage multiple projects, and wish to work both individually and collaboratively while contributing to total team culture and effort.
+ Ideally driven and motivated by the possibilities ahead, holds belief that innovation is critical to success, and seeks to support others in creative thinking.
+ Enthusiasm to partner on new projects and initiatives with fellow members of the marketing team.
+ Prides oneself on high-quality work and naturally challenges our team to grow every year.
+ Proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, design, and project management applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Asana) preferred in addition to capacity to learn systems and databases unique to the organization (e.g. Salesforce Marketing Cloud).
+ Potential to work nights and/or weekends at limited times of the year.
