Position Summary
HeartShare Human Services and HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Development Associate, Grants to support and advance the organizations’ fundraising efforts. This role is focused on securing vital funding from foundations, corporations, and government entities by managing all aspects of the grant lifecycle—from research and proposal development to funder reporting and relationship stewardship.
The Development Associate, Grants will work closely with the Chief Development Officer, program teams, and leadership to position the organizations for sustained and increased funding. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that HeartShare continues to provide transformative services to individuals with developmental disabilities and youth in foster care.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research and Strategy
Grant Writing and Application Management
Write and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of intent (LOIs), and concept papers tailored to funder guidelines. Collaborate with program teams to gather data, impact stories, and financial information to inform grant applications. Ensure all proposals and supporting documents align with funder priorities and organizational goals.Grant Reporting and Compliance
Manage the reporting process for active grants, including drafting narrative updates, compiling data, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements. Serve as a liaison with funders, maintaining strong relationships and providing updates on the progress of funded initiatives.Funder Engagement and Collaboration
Prepare briefing documents and materials for meetings between the CEO, CDO, and funders. Liaise with funders to answer questions, provide additional information, and steward relationships. Coordinate kick-off meetings with program teams for new grants, ensuring alignment with funder expectations and organizational goals.Development Operations
Maintain detailed records of grant applications, communications, deadlines, and reports in the donor database and shared drives. Track the full lifecycle of grants, including submission dates, decisions, and reporting requirements. Analyze grant outcomes and make recommendations for future approaches.
