JOB SUMMARY:

Foundation partnerships and the resources they generate are integral to CARE's mission to save lives, defeat poverty, and achieve social justice. From smaller foundations contributing catalytic funding to large donors like the Gates Foundation that share CARE's aspiration to leverage learning to achieve results at scale, these partnerships span sectors and geographies and require unique strategies for cultivation, stewardship, and growth. As one of nine members of the Foundation Partnerships team, the Development Coordinator will provide an integral support function which includes in-depth research and analysis, extensive knowledge and systems management, and multifaceted coordination and logistics support. This role also provides essential operational support for team leadership and relationship managers, allowing them to focus on external fundraising, donor relationships and strategy, while knowing that the support and logistics functions necessary for exceptional donor stewardship and internal coordination are in place. The successful Development Coordinator will be an excellent writer and researcher who is proactive and responsive, and a consummate team player who receives and delivers assignments big and small with an equal standard of quality and professionalism.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research and Analysis

Under the guidance of team leadership, the Development Coordinator will lead formative research and analysis efforts for the Foundation Partnerships team. With acute attention to detail and excellent writing skills, the Development Coordinator will perform original research on the topics assigned, as well as identify and fill gaps with the team reference library. This will include creating and updating donor research profiles, preparing briefing materials for CARE leadership, and monitoring and evaluating trends and opportunities within foundation philanthropy, such as collaborative giving and big bet competitions. The Development Coordinator will also closely monitor key foundation partners and prospects through tracking grant allocations and strategy changes and develop/contribute to original team research products, including both written reports and PowerPoint decks. Through significant analytical experience, the Development Coordinator will synthesize often lengthy and complex information into original and succinct content for team use, including reviewing philanthropic publications, news and social media, as well as internal CARE documents and reports.

Knowledge Management

With direction from team leadership, this position will be responsible for ongoing knowledge management and system improvements across an array of essential CARE platforms for the team. This includes maintaining internal and external websites and continuous updating and organization of both the SharePoint and Teams sites for the team, as well as refining and creating rules and guidance for their effective management and use. The Development Coordinator will also be responsible for identifying or sourcing new content and strategic resources for team-wide use, working closely with program and content team knowledge managers to ensure access to the most up-to-date content is readily available around CARE’s many programs, including by proactive requesting new information or resources. The Development Coordinator will further serve as a key team resource for Salesforce and other donor tracking mechanisms, creating dashboards and reports, updating account records, and processing gifts received.

Coordination and Logistics

The Development Coordinator will be responsible for coordination and logistical support for team meetings or retreats, as well as donor meeting support. This includes working with various types of vendors, securing quotes, navigating procurement processes, placing related orders, tech support and facilitation, and managing payments. Office management duties will entail managing team subscriptions, ordering team supplies and equipment, note-taking during meetings, preparing and facilitating visitor arrangements, and troubleshooting issues and inefficiencies as they arise. This position will also assist with monitoring expenses, budgets, and provide specific administrative support to the team AVP and ED. The Development Coordinator may also provide surge support to RMs and team leadership during proposal development, intense reporting periods, or other similar periods of high activity volume.
