The Communications Systems Division of Bosch Security Systems is headquartered in Burnsville, Minnesota. For over 90 years, Electro-Voice (a Bosch brand) has designed, engineered, and manufactured professional audio products: loudspeakers, amplifiers, microphones, and digital signal processors. Electro-voice’s products are primarily designed for live sound reinforcement applications such as; stadiums, DJ’s, theaters, concert venues, music festivals, radio stations, houses of worship, etc.

The Electro-Voice engineering facility is one of the best in the industry, including Anechoic chamber, power test room, 10-ton suspension testing, full wood prototyping room, and a model shop. We use state of the art technology and have access to the Bosch centralized supercomputing systems.

As a Development Engineer, you will: 

Design and develop Electro-Voice loudspeaker productsDeliver designed and optimized product solutions following projects from conception to mass productionResearch potential new technologies and materials for: high power transducers, power amplifiers, loudspeaker enclosures, loudspeaker processing, embedded software, loudspeaker suspension systems and arraysModel and simulate enclosures, waveguides, driver chassis, suspension systems and other components using SolidWorks, MATLAB, COMSOL and other simulation softwareDesign for manufacture optimization with factories and vendorsProgram and debug C/C++ firmware for audio processing and control embedded productsAssemble prototype loudspeakers and perform hands on design iterationDevelopment of test and design verification for functional and reliability testing including testing of speaker components and complete systems (powered and passive)Evaluate loudspeaker system and speaker component performance and reliability, failure modes and root cause failure analysisManage documentation including 3D files and bills of materialsVerify complete products for conformance to design specifications, operational and safety standards such as CE, UL, Eurocode, EN1991-4, DGUV Rev. 17, ANSI 1.8-2018, ISO 12100:2010(E)Work in team environment with Project Managers to maintain schedules and meet product cost and performance targetsWork with manufacturing to improve quality, maintain production regularity, reduce costs and support sample buildsSupport projects during full life cycle, work with quality and service departments to solve ongoing quality issues should they arise

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering, Physics or equivalent required or commensurate experience will be considered. Minimum of three plus years’ experience designing, modeling, simulating and testing structures or acoustic systems and their components required.Knowledge and application of one or more of the following; wood box construction, plastics molding, steel forming and aluminum casting methods.Ability to innovate as part of an industry leading R&D team and have a passion for product development of the highest standard.Experience designing and testing passive and powered professional loudspeaker systems including rigging, transport, system drive, and amplification is preferred.Experience with multi-physics FEA software for acoustics systems (COMSOL, Ansys etc) is preferred.Experience with programming MATLAB, Mathcad or similar preferred.Experience with 3D CAD – SolidWorks preferred.Knowledge of: UL, CE safety standards preferred.Must have the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with the team and work cross-functionally.Passion for music is a strongly preferred.Must be able to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally.Ability to lift up to 50lbs or more with assistance.

Additional InformationThe salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 annually and is not bonus eligible.
