As a Development Lead Product Engineer, you will be a core member of SEL’s cellular and connected solutions team within R&D. Our team is focused on creating safe wirelessly connected solutions for mission critical and utility applications that require secure, rugged, industrial, robust communications to optimize situational awareness. We provide that secure connectivity to keep the lights on and keep our Electric Grid safe. We aim to simplify and create solutions that delight our customers because what we do matters.
As a Development Lead Product Engineer, you will:
Act as the Product Engineer defining customer requirements between Product Management and the development team. Be the direct technical interface to Software Development team.
Brainstorm with Product Management and Development teams on creative ways to solve complex problems with a keen empathetic customer lens.
Author technical specifications of the software system requirements in the form of User Stories and deeper technical specifications for product facing solutions focused on that product.
Align with higher level Security guidelines set forth by SEL policies and industry leading best practices.
Possess or having a willingness to learn Cellular technologies including but not limited to: 5G, 4G LTE, public cellular networks, Private LTE (pLTE) such as Anterix / Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS), and private network offerings from public carriers like FirstNet, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
Define interface requirements for cellular devices connecting into secure software systems.
Develop relationships with internal and external customers to capture requirements and application specifications.
Define and review clear acceptance criteria and ensure user stories are ready for design and development.
Assist internal and external software integrations.
Provide customer input back into Product Management to deliver voice of the customer
Support SEL internal and external sales partners with technical questions and presentations.
Influence Cellular connectivity roadmap.
Experience with REST API integration in hardware and software systems
Work with Cellular Certification Experts to ensure compliance of our solutions.
Participate in writing technical papers, application guides, and instruction manuals.
Attend industry technical meetings and conferences.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field of study
Experience or interest in communications and electric power systems
Strong writing, technical documentation, speaking and presentation skills
Willing to travel up to 25%
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess 7-10 years’ experience in developing software or defining requirements for software systems
Cyber Security software experience
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
Understanding of Internet of Things protocols and technologies
Understanding of Electric Power Grid use cases or applications
Experience with Cellular technologies: 5G, pLTE, 4G LTE
Experience with scripting, and automated testing

Pay Range Data
We anticipate filling this position as a Development Lead Product Engineer $91,100.00 - 142,700.00. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
