Development Manager Donor Engagement and Special Events

Inova Center of Personalized Health is looking for a dedicated Development Manager Donor Engagement and Special Events to join the team. This role will be full-time day shift from Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Development Manager, Donor Engagement and Special Events plans and executes dinner events, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, grand openings, virtual events and webinars. Assists and sometimes leads on major fundraising event logistics and planning to include but not limited to: sponsorship solicitations, tracking of revenue, follow up and sponsor communication. Leads the planning and execution of several events and meetings, in close collaboration with external and internal stakeholders as well as Inova senior leadership.

Development Manager Donor Engagement and Special Events Job Responsibilities:

Manages aspects of all Foundation special events such as design, planning, coordination, and implementation with a focus on major fundraising events Manages and facilitates sponsor solicitations including follow up, tracking and stewardship. Communicates with event leadership, members of governance, management team and high-level donors regarding event progress and preparation. Maintains up to date knowledge of legal and tax implications for event related issues such as raffles, insurance and deductibility guidelines. Works with outside vendor to develop, test and implement an online auction component for the signature fundraising events. Responsible for financial management of special events; manages event budgets and responsible for reconciliation with Inova finance at the completion of each event. Prepares financial reports needed for event management including gift tables, expense ratios and calculated revenue based on sponsorship. Responsible for coordinating RFP process and engagement of multiple contracted vendors for event production, including payment schedules and check requests. Negotiates contracts and develops budgets. Coordinates design and production of event collateral materials with marketing department and/or vendors. Works with Inova public relations staff as well as local and regional news outlets to generate awareness for special events. Ensures that event registration and marketing information is distributed internally through existing Inova communication vehicles and externally through the Inova website. Develops ideas for event promotions and ways to increase event registrations. Develops sources for recruitment, prepares internship descriptions and submits postings. Screens internship candidates, coordinates and participates in interviews and selects interns. Oversees assigned functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but is not limited to, hiring and training team members, creating and implementing business strategies, managing performance of team members, and delegating tasks. Responsible for on-boarding selected candidates including Foundation orientation and coordinating participation in Inova New. Supervises interns including progress, activities, and workload. Also responsible for the evaluation of interns.

Development Manager Donor Engagement and Special Events Requirements:

Work Schedule: 8-hour shift (Monday - Friday days, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) Hybrid ; Must report on-site on Tuesdays  Education: Bachelor’s degree  Experience:  3 years of special event, marketing, public relations, or fundraising experience

 

Development Manager Donor Engagement and Special Events Preferred Requirements:

Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) certification or other relevant event planning certifications (e.g., CSEP, DES, or CFRE). Proven experience working with executive leadership, high-level stakeholders, and corporate sponsors in a professional setting. Strong background in fundraising strategies, donor engagement, and sponsorship development. Expertise in managing large scale events, including conferences, galas, and corporate meetings. Proficiency in event management software, and CRM systems. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
