Job Description

Grand Canyon University!  One of Arizona’s leading institutions of higher learning. Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University. 

GCU Facilities manages and services all university-owned property. By the development and maintenance of the GCU campus and surrounding areas, the GCU Facilities team aims to support and ensure the accomplishment of the university’s mission. By working creatively and collaboratively, the Facilities team fulfills the needs of the university by successfully managing resources while delivering excellent customer service.

Grand Canyon University is currently seeking a fulltime development planner. The Development Planner will be responsible for implementing and coordinating all aspects of the Universities land and development initiatives.

What you will do:

Identify and implement plans for land use aligning with GCU Development Agreement and City of Phoenix.

Responsible for coordination of land projects.  

Ensures coordination of all phases of planning and implementation of projects with city departments in the development review process. 

Analyze data and collaborate with key stakeholders to present future development and university growth. 

Lead and research land development opportunities and all related planning tasks including easements, surveys, evaluating utilities, zoning, contract stipulations, and land clearing. 

Coordinate all environmental inspections, demolitions, land clearing and abatement projects. 

Assist Project Managers with all aspects of project coordination throughout the construction phase.  

Assist Project management team with RFP development, coordination, and tracking.    

Maintain accurate planning folders including all key documents, applications, drawings, permits and contracts.

Manages and maintains accurate campus map with all parcel and land descriptions.  

Assists Real Estate Manager with all 3rd Party Property Manager requests and inquiries.

Facilitate and understand city & utility company processes including permits, licenses, appeals and applications.

Other duties assigned not mentioned above.

What you need:

Bachelor of Engineering, Architecture, Business or Urban Planning.

Experience with Facility and Operations Management principles, preferred.

Valid Driver's License in good standing.

Must pass pre-employment background investigation.
