Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope of Position:
Performs a variety of technical duties and activities including experiment management and execution, collection of data from manufacturing process, data analysis and ware or equipment management. May work with range of personnel, including development, engineering and operations, using measurement or customer data to help engineers resolve customer improve manufacturing yields and/or develop new processes or products.
Major Responsibilities:
Works with teams focused on product and process innovation, cost reduction projects, etc. Works with engineers to develop and execute experimentation required to develop and integrate new processes & products into production. Works on innovation projects to enable new products, reduce costs, downtime and/or defects and increase yields. May operate measurement devices and collect data to support product or process understanding. Trains and coaches new development, engineering and operations personnel on equipment and processes. Understands equipment used in key processes and interprets data from processes to solve problems. Provides inputs to project plans that identify resources and accurate timelines. May be asked to write process, product or equipment documentation.
Travel Requirements:
Up to 25% domestic and international possible
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
Monday - Friday (40 hours) + overtime when necessary Hours will typically be 8AM – 5PM, but off-shift work hours may be required.
Required Skills:
Display a bias for action in situations of uncertainty, with pro-active attention to issues and problems. Work well both within a multi-disciplined team, and independently with minimal oversight, and thoroughly carries assignments to completion.

Required Education and Experience:
B.S. or Associates Degree in technical/science field 3-8 years experience in technician roles Mechanical/process aptitude with the ability to design/fabricate experimental equipment/tools Knowledge and capability to run fiber-making and fiber processing process and support equipment such as FTIR benches, microscopes, coating/ink purge and mixing equipment, optical fiber measurement benches, screeners and coloring machines Experience with Microsoft Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)This position does not support immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $55,109.00 - $75,775.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
