The Electrophysiology Device Tech works with the Cardiologists to provide monitoring and programming for device patients. Responsible for the evaluation and optimization in programming for all device patient, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronization devices. Skills involving checking Battery Status, confirm appropriate sensing, check lead impedances, measure lead thresholds, assessing appropriate magnet rate for implanted pacemaker/AICD is a necessity. Is also able to check and interpret Event log book, identify lead failures of implanted pacemaker/AICD, identify appropriate vs. inappropriate shocks in AICDs, ability to Program/reprogram devices based on interrogated data of implanted pacemaker/AICD, turn on/off shock therapy for AICD, reprogram LV lead to avoid diaphragmatic stimulation, interpret Histograms and program rate response accordingly of implanted pacemaker/AICD. Responsible for remote monitoring of applicable device patients via the Internet. Assist in training of cardiology fellows in the device clinic. Responsible for the pre-operative and post-operative care for patients and on-going management and evaluation of inpatients with devices as applicable.

Req High school or equivalentPref Specialized/technical training Completion of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Technology (CEPT) Program.Req 2 years; Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience Experience as a Device Tech.Req Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.Req Excellent problem solving skills.Req Ability to use computer systems or specified equipment that is essential for the related areas.Req Must have knowledge of hospital radiology techniques, theory, and procedures.Req Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, invasive cardiovascular practices/techniques/pressures, basic analysis and emergency protocols.Req Familiar with EP equipment and troubleshooting.Preferred Qualifications:
Pref Specialized/technical training Completion of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Technology (CEPT) Program.Pref Bachelor's degree In healthcare related fieldPref Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (IBHRE) OR equivalent credential validated and approved by USC Electrophysiology Medical Director.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
The hourly rate range for this position is $45.00 - $76.50.
