HOW A DEVOPS CLOUD ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

As a DevOps Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for distributed and managed services, automating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.  You will manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency, and guide and manage software releases for new features and support users through consolidation. Occasionally perform the administrative operation of server hardware and software. Ensure system security and executes practices and procedures.Troubleshoot system related problems.Remain current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications. Recommend future direction or projects to management. Provide expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system.Operate in a skilled team environment and SAFe Agile methodology.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.Experience: 10+ years of related experienceRequired Technical Skills: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cloud Development, DevOpsStrong understanding of DevOps and software/application development processes and methodologies · Experience with the following AWS Services: Cloudformation, IAM, Elasticache, EC2, ECS/ECR, Autoscaling, ELB, Cloudwatch (Logs, Insights, Dashboards), RDS, VPC, Secrets Manager, Lambda, Parameter Store, API Gateway, CodeBuild/CodeDeployMaintain status of operations at all times: perform after actions reporting on all outages and work with engineering teams to determine solution and root cause analysis. Present findings to management for prioritization and taskinAutomate and optimize service deploymentsEstablish and Improve system monitoring while maintaining established security protocols within development, test, and production systems.Architect, build and maintain cloud infrastructure to support team and customer initiativesEstablish job orchestration strategies and approaches, maintain and improve existing infrastructure (build out autoscaling, support new services, optimize for cost efficiencies/authentication/search, etc)Administer production, staging, test and development environmentsManage and aggregate server logs and monitor for security and system related incidents, monitor and analyze system performance, such as server load and resource usageCreate and determine required metrics for dashboards and service healthEnforce best practices for security and reliability, and drive security initiatives, like access control and vulnerability testingMaintain up to date documentation of designs/configurations, ensuring team members have continuity of recurring tasksOn-call support may be requiredExperience maintaining an operational environment and use of monitoring tools and dashboard interfaces (ie. Cloudwatch, Splunk. Elasticsearch is a plus)Experience working with container images and platforms (Docker/Kubernetes)Understanding of Git, Jenkins, CodeBuild/CodeDepoy and other DevOps/Continuous Integration, serverless frameworkUnderstanding of microservice design and architectural pattern best practicesDirect experience and demonstrated proficiency with multiple programming and scripting languages preferred Bash, Python, Java is a plusExperience with databases (Aurora, Maria db, MySQL)Integrate with enterprise authentication servicesUnderstanding of access management and security groupsKnowledge of network technologies, common infrastructure components, load balancers, firewalls, virtual and physical infrastructure design.Security Clearance Level: Active TS/SCI with PolygraphPreferred Skills:Competent to work at a high technical level on all phases of systems engineering activitiesExcellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact; effective listening skills and follow throughSolid worth ethic and the ability to work in a mission critical environmentDetail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of workProvides technical guidance and leadership to engineers with less experienceStrong problem solving and troubleshooting skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to write and use unit and functional testingLocation: Herndon, VA On Site/Hybrid scheduleUS Citizenship Required
