VigLink is looking for a talented DevOps Engineer to help us to maintain and improve our cloud based infrastructure. You enjoy building and maintaining systems that deliver reliable production services. As part of the team, you will be critical to help us to define the architecture as we advance our technology to power our next generation of services. You like working in an Agile best-practices environment. You understand the importance of scalable, reliable, efficient systems and you are able to work with engineers to enable and ensure those characteristics. Responsibilities: Monitor & manage all aspects of system security, performance, storage, and usage – for databases, applications, and servers Actively support the team’s SLAs and communicate any issues to the business as necessary Peak performance and uptime as the #1 focus, so you will be focused on building a system with scalability, availability, performance, and security in mind Coordinate infrastructure enhancements and maintenance with the engineering teams Perform technology evaluations and testing to introduce new technologies Proactively identify major performance issues across multiple tools and work with teams to remediate incidents Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to handle issues that occur outside of business hours Requirements: 5+ years with hands-on experience running a 24x7 production environments Expert knowledge working with cloud computing; preferably AWS Solid experience with Linux administration, systems and application performance tuning Knowledge of configuration management tools, like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc; preferably with Puppet Experience with system operations with regard to capacity planning for holiday-peaks, availability analysis, load testing and corresponding risk-mitigation strategies is desired Understanding of basic programming concepts, able to write shell scripts or programs for automation and system administration purposes Nice To Have: Experience with database configuration and administration; preferably with Cassandra and MySQL Working knowledge of Hadoop & Spark (experience building/maintaining clusters a big plus) Experience with process automation such as backup and recovery, failure notification system, scaling and deployment Previous startup experience BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field. But if youre just really good and you never finished High School, thats fine too.
