DevOps Engineer

Cleaver Brooks is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our team in Milwaukee, WI. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for building out application architecture and automation while continually improving processes and supporting documentation.  The DevOps Engineer will also utilize cloud engineering technologies for development of products such as APIs, dashboards, system integrations, and supporting application architecture.

Job Location: Milwaukee, WI

Essential functions:

Architecting, supporting, and troubleshooting high scalability, availability, performance, monitoring, and backup across multiple environments. Developing and maintaining documentation to support timely and effective patching, compliance, and deployment processes. Planning, coordinating, and executing planned platform maintenance. Creating and enhancing an observability framework (AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray) for monitoring health, with automated recovery where possible. Budgeting, tagging, and tracking infrastructure costs, flagging abnormal fluctuations. Identifying, investigating, and resolving technical issues, documenting root cause analyses for production incidents. Supporting compliance initiatives, such as SOC. Designing and maintaining scripts to automate visualization. Building, maintaining, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment. Recommending architecture and process improvements. Establishing tools and frameworks that support platform deployment and management. Managing and executing third-party security testing and planning. Collaborating across business units to align on security standards, drive efficiencies, and ensure adherence to best practices.

Basic Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Information Technology discipline or related field of study and with 2 -5 years’ work experience in a DevOps or related role.

Experience:

Experience with AWS cloud technologies Knowledgeable in AWS cloud application architecture; AWS certifications preferred Developing templates or scripts to automate everyday developer or operations functions Knowledge of security, infrastructure, databases, and networking Experience implementing systems or minimum knowledge using the Agile/Scrum methodology Participation in the full software development life cycle (Analysis, Design, Coding, Testing and promotion into Production) Experience with microservice architecture, building and consuming APIs Career focus on developing and maintaining code quality using automated testing techniques and development standards Prior consulting experience working on virtual teams and ability to work both independently and in a team setting Strong oral and written communication and persuasive presentation skills
