DevOps Engineer
Title: DevOps Engineer KBR’s Advanced Analytics and Cloud team supporting the CBM+ program in Crane, Indiana is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our team. The program supports government customers within the Department of Defense (DoD), working on innovative projects that develop solutions incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud infrastructure. We are looking for a versatile and motivated individual with a background in DevOps, network engineering, and systems administration to help us deliver critical IT solutions. This role will focus on maintaining and enhancing software delivery pipelines, ensuring robust IT networks, and managing systems infrastructure for a range of high-impact government projects. RESPONSIBILITIES: + DevOps (60%): Collaborate with software development and IT operations teams to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of software. Implement and manage Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to support agile development and operational efficiency. Automate tasks and processes to improve productivity and streamline workflows. Maintain infrastructure as code and support management of cloud resources. Troubleshoot and support applications, ensuring optimal system performance and addressing issues as they arise. + Network Engineering (20%): Implement and maintain IT networks, including configuring and installing network devices (routers, switches, firewalls). Ensure network security by applying best practices in access controls and continuous network traffic monitoring. Monitor network performance to ensure system reliability and availability, aligning with DoD security standards. Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues and perform system upgrades and optimizations to improve network infrastructure. + SysAdmin (20%): Install, configure, and maintain software, hardware, and network systems to meet program and security requirements. Ensure the security and efficiency of IT infrastructure by enforcing access controls, conducting routine backups, and monitoring system health. Support daily operations, addressing system or network issues and ensuring consistent system performance. + Expert knowledge of LANs, WANs, VPNs, routers, firewalls, network protocols, and other security and network operations and monitoring, vulnerability analysis, PKI, data encryption, key management, data warehousing, and data mining capabilities. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a US Citizen with an Active/Current DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain. Education & Experience (& Substitutions): + BS/BA in a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience + OR AS/AA and 9+ years of relevant experience + OR High School Diploma (HSD) and 13+ years of relevant experience Travel: Occasional travel (5-20%) may be required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Proven experience in DevOps, network engineering, and systems administration. + Experience with CI/CD tools, cloud platforms, and infrastructure automation. + Familiarity with network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) and best practices for network security. + Experience with machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), or cloud infrastructure is a plus. + Strong troubleshooting skills across software, network, and infrastructure systems. + Experience with (or similar tools/software/etc.) such as Gitlab, GitHub, Heroku + Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and virtualization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). + Familiarity with DoD security requirements and protocols. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The role can be performed remotely in the United States, but it is preferred that candidates live in Bloomington, Indiana, or the surrounding area to fulfill the position's duties. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week This position offers a flexible remote working environment. Compensation: $95,000-148,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity and contract affordability. Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
