DevOps/Software Engineer
TEKsystems' large retail client with US headquarters in Seattle is seeking a DevOps or Cloud Engineer with a software engineering background .
Required Skills:
1) 5-10 years experience working in a Cloud Engineer or DevOps Engineer capacity focused within AWS/Azure cloud platforms ideally, in enterprise-environments (over 1000 employees) **retail environments would be a bonus**
2) 2 years’ experience with Gitlab for CI/CD pipeline components, and pipeline experience. They are currently using GITlab for standardization of CICD Pipelines via GitLab Pipeline components & pipeline governance
3) Software engineering background at some point in their career. 3+ years’ experience in at least one of these languages for scripting - Java, Go or Python, Bash or Shell scripting. Ideally looking for a developer that has transitioned into DevOps or is doing DevOps work
Description
The Enterprise Engineering group at our client focuses on educating, instilling, and supporting the core engineering principles across the organization. As part of this team, you'll be essential in introducing and driving enterprise tooling, process and standards across the Technology org. A passion for engineering, technical acumen, and the ability to understand technical concepts is a must in representing the value of the engineering cultural shift clearly and concisely.
The Enterprise Engineering -Secure Delivery Platform(SDP) - SDP is the next-generation delivery platform for our client's software development powered by GitLab to empower developers to build secure software faster. It enables collective ownership, self-service, continuous improvement, and continuous experimentation.
You will be focused on raising and implementing enterprise tooling to serve an engineering community of over 700+ engineers across client Technology.
As the Software Engineer for the SDP team, you will be the go-to person for everything related to analyzing, defining, implementing, and solutions for our client's enterprise engineering strategies of building, testing, deploying and securing the CICD pipelines. Working closely with the Enterprise Engineering leadership team to understand what key data points are needed to drive the objectives of leveling up engineering maturity across the board.
A day in the life
• Lead development and maintenance of service-side logic and databases using relevant coding language(s)
• Lead collaboration with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements
• Develop and implement data protection and storage solutions
• Conduct regular testing, debugging, and quality assurance reviews
• Act as subject matter expert for coding language(s) and solutions design
• Create and maintain relevant documentation and conduct knowledge transfer activities
•You will partner closely with Technical leads, Technology Managers, and Enterprise Engineering leadership to align strategic objectives and provide a vision for your respective engineering teams.
•Builds and maintains operational excellence measured by critical metrics, by controlling and reviewing changes going to production, finding efficiencies, process improvement, and ensuring sufficient telemetry, monitoring, and alerting for potential issues.
•Drive continuous improvements to throughput, quality, cycle time, and the DevOps culture across our client's environment . Execute goals across the green field platforms, encompassing the unified continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), integrated SDLC processes, and tools.
•Apply an in-depth understanding of CI/CD platforms, capabilities, processes, tools, and integration, including current and emerging technologies, integration/dependencies, and the end-state view.
•Apply experience leading high-profile projects across CI/CD Orchestrator, automated testing systems, and/or developer value streams, and provide thought leadership to the organization.
•Write and promote architecture strategy for maven, Gradle, Spring Boot, and go projects across all of our client
•Development. Collaborate with Principal Architects and Software Engineers in solution designs and evaluate the value of the project/feature/capability, determine the approach for adoption, and enable self-service.
•Coach and develop team members, provide clear direction, and represent the team when committing to projects.
•Apply experience minimizing developer process lead time by identifying bottlenecks and subordinate constraints.
•Understand developer platforms, landscapes, capabilities, processes, tools, and integration, including current and emerging technology, and integration/ dependencies.
•Identify patterns and frameworks and perform value chain analysis that drives the realization of the SDP strategy.
•Drive solution implementation by writing user stories and managing the technology/architecture backlog.
•Multi-Geographical interaction and coordination
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $90.00/hr.
