Job Description

Provides education and training resources for Diagnostic Services staff through orientation, training, in-service, and continuing education programs. Actively promotes a lean work culture by performing team member duties to encourage consistent use of lean principles and processes, including continually seeking work process improvements. Recognizes necessity of taking ownership of own motivation, morale, performance, and professional development. Strives for behavior consistent with being committed to lab’s and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's mission, goals, and values.

Experience

5 years of experience in a high complexity laboratory or radiology services

Preferred Qualifications

Pediatric experienceLaboratory – A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution

Education

Laboratory – Associate’s degree in a chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489Radiology – Associate’s degree in related field from an accredited institution

Certification Summary

Laboratory – Certification as a Medical Technologist from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), the American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), or another agency approved by Georgia Department of Community Health.Radiology – BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent or Registered Nurse and classification such as by Georgia Department of Human Resources

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills as well as leadership abilitiesMust possess computer skills such as the ability to use MS Office products and the ability to utilize computer systems related to patient careRadiology – Knowledge of radiographic procedures, equipment operations, patient care management and other technical factors associated with the position of Radiologic

Job Responsibilities

Coordinate, monitor and participate in the orientation for new employees.Coordinate and provide technical continuing education opportunities and programs for laboratory/radiology personnel including educational programs in conjunction with Learning Services to support System initiatives and regulatory requirements.Coordinate and monitor ongoing annual competencies for Radiology personnel (Radiology only).Maintains open dialogue with clinical services, learning services, and Department Leadership team, working to identify and resolve consumer and quality issues through education avenues.Coordinate clinical rotations and provide basic orientation to laboratory/radiology students.Responsible for compliance with all regulatory requirements, and organizational and departmental standards, policies, and procedures.Laboratory – Monitor competency assessments for employees according to laboratory regulatory requirements.Laboratory – Maintain personnel files on current laboratory employees to meet the College of American Pathologists requirements.
