Diagnostic Tech Multi Skill
Purpose

Performs imaging procedures at a technical level without requiring constant supervision. Competently executes a variety of technical procedures that demand independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. Rotates between two specialties.

Responsibilities Diagnostic Radiography Procedures: Performs diagnostic radiography procedures using established protocols without constant supervision. Patient Communication: Communicates instructions to patients clearly and concisely, explaining procedures to alleviate fears and gain cooperation. Exam Management: Ensures all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are entered for performed exams. Technical Procedures: Executes a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment to adjust protocols and apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately. Imaging Equipment: Utilizes complex imaging equipment for acquiring, analyzing, manipulating, and documenting image data, completing procedures according to protocol. Flexibility: Maintains flexibility to work in different clinical areas to support departmental and business unit needs, ensuring adequate staffing across the enterprise. Communicates with supervisors and managers to maintain workflow patterns based on patient volumes. Team Collaboration: Works as a team member within assigned departments to expedite patient care efficiently, demonstrating excellent communication and customer service skills. Communicates effectively with physicians, co-workers, managers, and patients. Contrast Administration: Administers PO and rectal contrast per physician orders and department policy. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates strong interaction skills with patients and co-workers, displaying high levels of care, listening, dignity, and respect. Works as a team member within the department and other departments to expedite patient care efficiently. Patient Identification: Identifies all patients properly using two patient identifiers and follows universal protocol when performing procedures. Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition. Documents patient history in the electronic record as required. Continuous Learning: Shows a willingness to learn new skills and educate others in their areas of expertise. Serves as a resource for new hires and students.
