Minimum Qualifications:

Associates of Applied Science Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program 3+ years of experience

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

American Heart Association (BLS)

Any two of the following credentials: 

American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS- AB) American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-MSKS) American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS- OB/GYN) American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-PS)  American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS- BR) American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (RDMS-RVT) American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-VS)

Job Summary: 
The Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist II position is an experienced technologist who completes a variety of routine to complex diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams of high difficulty. This position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of ultrasound exams.  The Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist II position serves as a mentor and trainer to the Ultrasound Technologist I and students. This position works independently by exercising sound judgment and executing above average clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures. The Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist II position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and special ultrasound procedures. This position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to ultrasound exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.


Job Duties: 

Promotes a positive work environment. Collaborates with all members of the patient care team. Guides and mentors Ultrasound Technologist I and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge and abilities. Uses peer-to-peer accountability towards department goals for retention and employee engagement. Utilizes verbal, nonverbal & written communication to achieve mutual understanding. Utilizes active communication and reports pertinent patient care information in a comprehensive manner. Proactive in responding to patient needs. Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams of high complexity. Optimizes protocols to provide better patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation and technical factors. Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures or special ultrasound procedures, including assisting with sterile technique. Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANGAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level. Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures. Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies. Identifies LEAN opportunities and WASTE, providing recommendations, and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.

Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience.
