What you'll do The Dialysis Patient Care Technician works under the supervision of an RN or Nephrologist to provide direct patient care services to individuals undergoing dialysis treatment. Dialysis Patient Care Technicians must have knowledge of the water room and water treatment processes, including water purification methods, chemical disinfectants, and water quality testing. They must be able to identify potential issues with the water system and take appropriate corrective action. Additionally, they need to be familiar with the relevant regulatory requirements related to water treatment in the dialysis setting. Provides direct patient care. Measuring and recording patients' vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and weight, before and after dialysis treatments. Demonstrates technical competency as evidenced by cannulation skills, accurate machine settings, initiating and terminating according to department protocols as monitored by the RN Demonstrates good judgment and the ability to discern information that must be reported to the RN as monitored by the RN Performs job responsibilities within specified boundaries. Seeks guidance as appropriate as monitored by the RN Cordial and professional to staff and patients 100% of the time. Maintains patient and staff confidentiality as monitored by staff feedback and supervisor monitoring Attains CCHT certification within 18 months of working as a PCT 100% of the time as evidenced by certification certificate. Maintains CCHT through CEU’s Effective time management as monitored by the RN Performs water testing to monitor quality and identify potential issues. Preparing and maintaining dialysis equipment and machines including cleaning and disinfecting after each use. Performs other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager. What we need from you Education/Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience: Previous experience in an acute care environment preferred. Previous experience as a PCT, CAN or EMT preferred. Licensure/Certificates: Current BLS required within 6 months from date of hire. CCHT Certification is required within 18 months of hire. Skills: Accountability Attention to Detail Adaptability Communication Conflict Resolution Critical Thinking Interacting with People Maintain Confidentiality Reliability Time Management Technical Skills Training Physical Requirements: Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs, of force constantly to move objects. Occasional crouching and kneeling. Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, stooping, walking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception). Constant typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking. Constant fit testing required. Hazards: Occasional electrical and mechanical. Frequent chemical. Constant bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure. Working Conditions: Occasional odors. Travel: Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. Pay Range Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. Pay Range Minimum: USD $20.70/Hr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $31.05/Hr.
