The Service Technician – Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery or systems, ensuring efficient operation. They handle assembly, troubleshooting, calibration, and on-site support, often working with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. The role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols, with occasional travel for customer support.
Responsibilities:
Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of components based on instruction manuals, 2D schematics, 3D models, reference photographs, engineering checklists, and on-the-job training. Conduct machine commissioning tasks, including: Alignment and utility preparation (electric, compressed air, hydraulic, lubrication, compressed nitrogen). Power-on, calibration, fault diagnosis, recovery, function testing, and visual inspections. Identify, document, and communicate quality issues; support corrective action measures. Utilize intermediate/advanced knowledge of programmable logic controllers, especially Rockwell/Allen-Bradley programming software (Logix 5000). Troubleshoot electrical control systems (AC & DC circuits) and hydraulic systems at an intermediate level. Supervise and actively participate in the installation and commissioning of machines at customer facilities. Provide technical support at customer sites, including troubleshooting and repairs. Collaborate on automation interfacing with partner organizations (robotics, peripherals). Overnight travel is required for 10-25% of workdays, with weekend travel being rare. Follow all company, industry, and customer site safety policies to maintain a safe work environment. Work effectively within a team and adhere to the work priority schedule set by the leadership team. Offer ideas for LEAN process improvements. Accurately document work hours.Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent (technical degree preferred). Strong ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing. Basic knowledge of die casting machinery processes, systems, and controls. Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics. Proficiency in using hand tools, measuring devices, and rigging/lifting equipment. Experience with manual machine tools (e.g., mill, lathe, drill press, arbor press) is a plus. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role or equivalent skills to meet job requirements. Strong safety record and awareness of industrial standards. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Ability to lift up to 55 pounds and stand for up to 8 hours per day. Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record.
