Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an opening for a Fleet Vehicle Mechanic / Technician at its Granite City, IL. facility.

The Granite City facility produces and distributes Liquid Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Argon as well as bulk Hydrogen and Liquid Hydrogen throughout the Midwest and Canada. You will report to the Granite City Distribution Site manager and will be responsible for the maintenance of Company owned tractors and trailers.

We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, well-organized self-starter with a strong commitment to Safety. We are looking for a strong teammate with the ability to work well with fellow mechanics, drivers, and operations personnel.

As a Vehicle Mechanic/Technician, the primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs on the Company's fleet equipment which includes Class A tractors, Class B straight trucks, cryogenic tankers, and tube trailers.Document/record work performed electronically on computer-based maintenance systemMaintain personal safety and training requirements using electronic training systemPerform road repairs when necessaryPerform electrical/electronic repairs on tractors and trailersParticipation in the Company’s Safety, Training, Environmental and Improvement programs

Additional job responsibilities (with on-the-job training provided) will include:

Perform cryogenic maintenance to include repair/replacing valves, piping, pumps, etc.Perform tube trailer maintenance to include repair/replacing valves, fittings, etc.Calibrate pump discharge metersSpot/move trailers as neededBuilding and grounds maintenance as neededGeneral housekeepingHelp manage Fleet inventories including parts, tires, lubricants, and fuels

Qualifications:

High School diploma/equivalent3-5 years strong diesel vehicle repair experienceStrong mechanical background, with computer experience/skillsSolid work historyAbility to drive Class A and Class B tractorsWelding knowledge and experience preferredElectrical troubleshooting skills on 12 volt DC circuitsDiesel engine troubleshooting and repair experienceTrade school graduates are encouraged to applyClass A CDL license preferred but not required
