Savage Services Corporation, an established materials management company, is seeking a Diesel Mechanic who will have responsibilities in the preventative maintenance program and performance of minor/major repairs for all Mack tractor/trailer rigs within our Detroit, MI operation, where we transport petroleum coke from Marathon refinery to end customer locations. Location: Detroit, MI Days/Hours: Flexible 10 – 12-hour shifts (Must work every other Saturday) These are just a few of the benefits you can expect from working with Savage: + A culture that appreciates Team Members + Excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, PTO, Paid Holidays, Profit Sharing, and 401(k) with match. + Paid Parental and Uniformed Services Leave + $150 Annual Steel-Toe Boot Allowance: Stay safe and stylish on the job! + We provide uniforms and PPE, and we even handle the laundry What You’ll Be Doing: + Heavy and minor repairs on Mack Trucks and East trailers, Peterbilt tractors including springs, wiring, changing tires, brake systems, batteries, lights and alternators + Service trucks and preventative maintenance: fuel, grease, change oil and all fluids + Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory + Perform diagnostics on trucks to determine if it can be repaired on site or is a Mack Warranty issue + Perform roadside repairs Requirements to Be Successful in This Position: + 2+ years of Diesel Mechanic Experience: Mack trucks, and East trailers, Peterbilt tractors + CDL a plus but not required + Have a vested interest in operational safety + Be able to read, write and understand English + Able to lift 50 lbs. + Familiar with record keeping as it pertains to maintenance + Should have some supervisory skills + Computer skills for maintenance CMMS system + Clean driving record + Work as a team or independently + Ability to bring your own tools. Specialty tools will be provided by Savage.
