Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic with 1-5 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all major repairs, including engine, transmission, accident damage, preventive maintenance, changing of brakes, oils, and lights, and brake work within our transportation truck shop. You will perform all maintenance tasks to ensure a functional and operational transportation fleet.

Pay rate: $26.00 - $33.00/hour and 3rd shift candidates will receive a $4.00 shift differential

ResponsibilitiesPerform truck mechanic B requirements in addition to all major preventive maintenance.Rebuild major components and read and interpret all shop material.Perform all repairs and maintenance on refrigeration equipment as needed.Repair major structural damage to trailers and internal and external engine components.Perform all functions of a truck mechanic C, including basic service line functions such as checking air pressure and changing lights.Perform minor tune-ups.Solve electrical problems, brake problems, compressor preventive maintenance, and refrigeration systems.Work well with teams and others as a team player.Essential Skills1-3 years of prior diesel experience on tractor trailers or recent diesel mechanic schooling/certifications.Knowledge of transmissions, compressors, diesel mechanics, and preventive maintenance.Ability to perform engine repair, troubleshooting, and industrial repair.Additional Skills & QualificationsCDL A is preferred but not required.Must be comfortable reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 70lbs.Client prefers candidates who can provide their own tools.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

This is a casual environment that can change quickly. Be prepared for both slow and busy days, influenced by factors such as weather conditions and accidents. You must be comfortable going on the road for maintenance and pick-ups. The shop is indoors but you will still be exposed to the elements as the garage doors are usually up for incoming and outbound trucks. You will work with a team of about 5-6 other diesel technicians.
