Job Title: Diesel Mechanic
Job Description

The diesel mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing semi-trucks and trailers. This includes engine repairs, engine overhauls, diagnosing, DPF (diesel particulate filter) repairs, transmission and clutch repair and replacement, differential and power divider repairs, axle, hub, and bearing service, air brakes, hydraulic brakes, air systems, and spring replacement/repair.

ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and troubleshoot semi-trucks and trailersPerform engine repairs, overhauls, and DPF repairsRepair and replace transmissions and clutchesService differentials, power dividers, axles, hubs, and bearingsRepair air brakes, hydraulic brakes, and air systemsReplace and repair springsHandle a variety of vehicles including semi-trucks, charter buses, and lift trucksPerform general PMs on trucksEssential Skills3+ years as a diesel mechanic with good tenure and strong work references3+ years diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, brakes, clutches, and large machinery including semi-trucksExperience with diesel mechanics and diesel enginesProficiency in engine repair, specifically Cummins, Detroit, Volvo, and Peterbilt enginesExperience with diagnostic testing and troubleshootingOwn tools and toolboxes valued around $15-25kAdditional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge of electrical systemsAbility to work with technology, including laptops for work ordersWhy Work Here?

Work Environment

Work a 1st shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, with potential for four 10-hour days. Our 26k sq. ft. facility is clean and equipped with electronic lifts to avoid crouching or working above your head. While we have a dedicated cleaning staff, each mechanic is responsible for keeping their workstation clean. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, Iowa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00
