**Job Description**
This position performs scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to automobiles, trucks (Class 4-8), vans, and material handling equipment. The role requires diagnosing electrical systems, fuel systems, brake systems, and all other assemblies associated with vehicle maintenance and repair. The position works with a high degree of independence and requires the use of your own tools (general hand and power tools). Physical movements including lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing, and handling objects are essential to the role.
**Responsibilities**
+ Diagnose failures of vehicles and disassemble, repair, and reassemble as necessary.
+ Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles.
+ Meet internal customer’s expectations.
+ Maintain vehicle records as required.
+ Answer road calls.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience with diesel engines, mechanical systems, and preventative maintenance.
+ Knowledge of fleet maintenance and diesel maintenance.
+ Experience with hydraulic and air brake systems.
+ Understanding of internal combustible engines (multi-fuel sources).
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ 1+ years of experience as a mechanic.
+ Valid CDL license (if required).
+ Ability to pass CDL and state inspection testing.

**Work Environment**
Fleet shop with 2-100 foot bays on the same site as the distribution facility. The environment can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. You will work with other technicians and independently, often in small confined spaces and moving around large trucks. Bring your own tools and be prepared to wear steel-toed boots and PPE when needed (vest, glasses, etc.).
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, Virginia.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
