**Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Helper** **Job Description** We are looking for a dedicated Diesel Mechanic Helper who is eager to transition into a full-fledged Diesel Mechanic role long-term. In this role, you will learn the tooling used, get acquainted with customers and locations, and be responsible for delivering tools to and from job sites for mechanics working on heavy equipment. A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required. **Responsibilities** + Learn and understand the tooling used for diesel mechanics. + Deliver tools to and from job sites for mechanics. + Respond to service calls to repair various trucks and construction vehicles including hoist distribution trucks, bucket trucks, utility-based trucks, backhoes, front loaders, track trucks, and excavators. + Commute to long-distance job sites, including Southern California, Pebble Beach, and Calistoga. + Perform physical tasks such as climbing on and going under trucks for repairs. + Conduct diagnostic testing, hydraulic repairs, diesel maintenance, and voltage system troubleshooting. + Perform preventative maintenance and major repairs on-site if necessary. + Work on booms, cranes, fleet vehicles, skid-steer loaders, and excavators. **Essential Skills** + 2-8 years of experience as an Auto/Diesel Mechanic. + Diagnostic testing and troubleshooting skills. + Experience with hydraulics, diesel repair, and maintenance. + Knowledge of 12V and 24V systems. + Basic hand tools (experienced mechanics should have their own tools). + Experience with ERG (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve) systems. + Transmission repair experience. + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. + Clean MVR with no DUI in the last 2 years and less than 3 points. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with boom trucks. + Experience from local auto shops such as Jiffy Lube or Pep Boys. + Flexibility to work long hours, including overtime. + Air brakes experience or DMV Med Card preferred. + Class A DL with air brake endorsement is a plus. + Welding experience. **Why Work Here?** We operate with the spirit of a small family-owned business, providing a close-knit work environment with access to leadership. The role involves working on high voltage equipment, booms, cranes, and heavy machinery. Safety is paramount, with PPE including high visibility vests required on-site. Mechanics will always work in pairs for safety and support. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, and t-shirts initially, with fire-resistant clothing provided upon demonstrating commitment. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Benicia, California. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $50.00/hr.
