Diesel Mechanic / Lowboy Operator

Mechanic/Lowboy Operator         Job Description    Martin Marietta is seeking a Mechanic/Lowboy operator to work out of the Maple Grove Maintenance Facility. This position will be responsible for safely and efficiently repairing, fabricating, and maintaining equipment. Also operating lowboy as needed involving loading, unloading, and transporting heavy equipment and attachments from site to site in a safe and timely manner. This is a union position and membership in the Minnesota Teamsters Local 120 is required.      Essential Functions   Maximizing performance of equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis.Performs fabrication and repairs to processing equipment and mobile equipment.Performs routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment.Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.Repair or replace faulty components, such as brakes and brake components, emission components, fuel, and fuel system components etc.Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed while adhering to safety protocols and DOT RegulationsMaintains a clean and organized work area.Aides in the training of co-workers as needed.Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains various pieces of equipment.   Required Education and Experience   Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar roleKnowledge of diesel engine systems, including electrical and hydraulic systemsStrong organizational skills, including planning, scheduling, prioritizing and record-keeping.Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision.Able to work outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and elevated work areas up to 80’.Able to use a wide variety of hand tools and power tools.Able to adhere to MSHA & OSHA guidelines and Company safety rules and regulations.Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with heavy haul experience. Tanker, hazmat, and LCV endorsements preferred.Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production.   Work Environment   This role will be based out of the maintenance facility in Maple Grove, Minnesota – 75% in a shop setting, 25% in the field/outdoor, and on public roadways operating lowboy.        Competencies   Safety AcumenMotivationAdaptabilityCommitment to ExcellenceProblem-SolvingCommunication   Physical Demands   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to feel, or handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.        Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position at an average of 46 hours per week and may require additional overtime as needed.
