General Summary:
As a Reefer/Trailer Mechanic servicing Shaw's, Distribution Center Transportation, you will perform all levels of maintenance services, with the primary focus on refrigeration units such as ThermoKing and Carrier refrigeration equipment designed for Class 8 refrigerated trailers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform Preventive Maintenance, diagnostic/troubleshooting and repairs on reefers using hand & power tools and diagnostic equipment and software in a shop and field environment. Provide additional support regarding preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as needed. Able to read complex schematics associated with refrigeration equipment. Identify warrantable repairs and document as needed. Determines proper part numbers by consulting service and parts manuals. Operates appropriate powered industrial equipment when necessary. Understands safety takes precedence over operating productivity. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work area and environment. Including but not limited to cleaning shop equipment, floors, and fluid containment areas. Complies with DOT / OHSA/EAP regulations as it pertains to their area of responsibility and ensures CWP/Shaws is in compliance with pertinent regulations.Education, Knowledge, and Certifications:
Knowledge in truck, trailer, and reefer industry- preferred Graduate of post-secondary automotive/truck/HVAC technology program. Valid driver's license required (CDL a plus) Possesses or able to obtain 608/ 609 Refrigeration Technician Certification. Ability to obtain ASE certification in heavy truck. Good Communication (written and verbal) Basic knowledge of computer systems including Windows and Microsoft is required, and TMT (Maintenance Software) helpful. Diagnostic skills preferred (ThermoKing, Carrier, Bendix -ABS, Volvo, Cummins and Allison) Must possess adequate hand, pneumatic and electric tools required to perform routine repairs and maintenance. Ability to work with supervisor and other technicians to coordinate and prioritize work in the shop.Physical Requirements / Environment:
Able to lift up to 75 lbs. Able to reach and grab tools and equipment. Stand and/or walk on concrete surfaces, and one place for extended periods of time. Climbing to heights of more than 24 inches with the use of a ladder and/or other climbing apparatus.What it is like at Albertsons?
