Diesel Technician
**Job Title: Diesel Technician** **Job Description** This role involves performing all mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on trucks. You will be tasked with inspecting trucks and addressing any issues reported by drivers. While the primary focus will be on mechanical failures, some electrical troubleshooting and repairs will be handled by more experienced technicians. You will maintain a working knowledge of various vehicle components and systems, performing preventative and repair maintenance both on-site and on the road. **Responsibilities** + Inspect trucks and run through checklists provided by drivers to identify issues. + Focus on mechanical troubleshooting and repairs, with some electrical repairs handled by experienced technicians. + Perform preventative and repair maintenance functions on various vehicle components and systems. + Repair and maintain chassis components, refuse bodies (including control, hydraulic, and electrical systems), and air and hydraulic braking systems. + Conduct engine repair and maintenance. + Maintain suspension, drive train, and steering systems. + Perform heating and air conditioning maintenance. + Conduct line maintenance welding and fabrication. + Provide road service when necessary to ensure safe and efficient operation of the equipment. + Identify malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools. **Essential Skills** + 1-5 years of diesel mechanic/repair experience (6 months if directly related to diesel engines). + Clean driving record. + Experience with heavy-duty class 7-8 trucks or 1-5 light-duty trucks. + Proficient in engine repair or air brake repair. + Valid driver's license. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + ASE Certifications (T1-T8). + Master Diesel Certification. + Experience with suspension systems. + Prior experience in garbage truck repair. + Commercial Driver's License. **Why Work Here?** Our client offers good benefits, including a $5,000 sign-on bonus and yearly increases. Additionally, they will assist you in obtaining ASE certifications. **Work Environment** This position is located in Stevensville and is for the 2nd shift, which runs from 2 PM to 12 AM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and several breaks throughout the day. There are four openings available. You will work 50-55 hours per week, typically five 10-hour shifts.
