**Job Title: Diesel Technician** **Job Description** As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for performing heavy-duty truck/trailer repair and maintenance. You will handle pneumatic brake systems, air ride and spring ride diagnosis and repair procedures, and electrical wiring systems including ABS braking repairs. Your role will involve using testing equipment, including computers and other electronic diagnostic tools, to determine failed components. You will need to understand the physics of how trailers support and carry loads to make proper repairs. **Responsibilities** + Perform heavy-duty truck/trailer repair and maintenance + Diagnose and repair pneumatic brake systems + Conduct air ride and spring ride diagnosis and repair + Maintain and repair electrical wiring systems and ABS braking systems + Understand the mechanics of how trailers support and carry loads + Perform wheel end and brake system repairs + Operate power and hand tools as well as other equipment used in servicing vehicles + Move freely throughout the service area, including climbing in/out of trailers, bending, and walking + Use testing equipment including computers and other electronic diagnostic tools to identify failed components **Essential Skills** + Experience with diesel engines and trucks + Troubleshooting and repair skills + Welding and bodywork expertise + Suspension repair knowledge + Ability to diagnose mechanical issues + Mechanical aptitude for maintaining wheel end and brake systems **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with fleet maintenance + Ability to work on heavy trucks and municipality vehicles (buses) + Capability to learn and apply new repair techniques + Strong understanding of vehicle physics **Why Work Here?** We offer team and individual bonuses, with up to $700 per month based on efficiency. We provide an optional one-week training in Chicago after completing courses. **Work Environment** Our work environment includes smaller shops with a 'family feel', employing six technicians at each location. The Painesville location operates Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (or 7:00 am to 3:30 pm if necessary) with potential for weekend work depending on weather and bus breakdowns. The Girard location operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with no overtime, only 40 hours per week. Both locations offer a contract-to-hire term of 6 or 9 months, depending on the hiring manager's decision. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Girard, Ohio. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
