**Job Title: Diesel Truck Mechanic** **Job Description** Diesel truck mechanics will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of a fleet of waste management trucks. This includes understanding the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of the vehicles and performing work accurately and efficiently on a consistent basis. Main duties include preventative maintenance, diagnosing and testing issues, performing effective and timely repairs, changing out parts and equipment, and ensuring minimal downtime. **Responsibilities** + Perform preventative maintenance on waste management trucks. + Diagnose and test mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. + Conduct effective and timely repairs on trucks. + Replace parts and equipment as necessary. + Ensure downtime of vehicles remains low. + Perform welding tasks as required. **Essential Skills** + 4-5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic. + 2-3 years of experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics of vehicles. + Proficiency in diagnostic testing and repair of diesel trucks. + Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. + Experience with heavy equipment maintenance. + Welding skills. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Trade school certification is a plus. **Why Work Here?** Join a dedicated team of mechanics in a supportive environment. Trucks are used heavily and will come in regularly with various issues. You will work with a team of about 14-15 other mechanics in somewhat tight spaces. The shift is from Monday to Friday, 1:30 PM - 9:30 PM. Training at the start will begin at 8 AM. Every other month, you will need to work Saturdays for the entire month, with a day off during the weekday. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Modesto, California. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $32.00/hr.
