Overview

The ILS/MHW Cook works as part of an Intensive Residential Treatment Services team that provides care, treatment and rehabilitation for persons served who are experiencing significant mental health/psychiatric symptoms; who are demonstrating significant functional impairments; and who may have co-occurring disorders.  Primary duties will focus on food preparation and kitchen management, as well as supporting skill development in these areas.  

Responsibilities Helps promote physical, social, and psychological well-being to individuals served Interacts frequently and positively with individuals servedSupports staff to promote the rights of the individuals served to achieve an enhanced quality of lifeFollows agency procedures to promote optimum health care, safety practice and behavioral supports to maintain the well-being of person(s) servedOversees meal preparation and grocery shopping, follows Board and Lodge licensing requirements for food safetyResponsible for keeping kitchen workspace clean and orderlyTransports clientsManages food/cleaning budgetProvides group and individual services for clients: tailored to dietary need and skill development related to cooking, cleaning, menu planning, nutrition, budgetingTeaches clients independent living skills in accordance with their treatment planPerforms administrative duties (scanning, faxing, organizing)Provides the necessary financial management for the day-to-day operations of the program using established practices and proceduresEnsures compliance with training licensing regulations and company policies and proceduresMaintains clean and safe work environmentManages the day-to-day therapeutic environment including the prevention of crisis at the lowest level of escalationDevelops and participates in community and in-house recreational and leisure activities Completes all documentation as required to ensure quality servicesOther duties as assigned

 

Qualifications GED or High School Diploma with 2,000 supervised hours in the delivery of services to adults with serious mental illnessBachelor's degree preferred in one of the behavioral sciences or related fieldsFood safety training and competency in kitchen management
