Position Summary
The Dietitian is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Dietitian provides consulting services to the hospice when nutritional issues require intervention.
Position Specific Responsibilities
Attends and participates in staff meetings, educational programs and community events, as requested.Communicates identified needs and potential solutions to supervisor.Upon receiving a request from the hospice interdisciplinary team, performs an evaluation according to the plan of care to determine the dietary needs of the patient based on patient and family goals.Consult the hospice interdisciplinary team (IDT) for updates to the plan of care after the initial evaluation.Educates the patient and/or caregiver on any recommended changes to dietary habits.Maintains and submits documentation to the hospice, including treatment records, ongoing evaluations, and charges for service.Evaluates effectiveness of instruction, patient response, progress toward patient/family goals, and need for ongoing involvement of dietitian.Provides services and consultations to the extent necessary and reasonable to meet the needs of the patient.Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Systems Management, or related field strongly preferred.One (1) to two (2) years of related experience and/or training in lieu of degree may be considered.
Skills
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy.

Arizona
Registered dietitian, approved to work as a dietitian by American Dietetic Association.
New Mexico
Licensed by New Mexico Nutrition and Dietetics Practices Act.
South Carolina
Person who is registered with Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Tennessee
Person is licensed by the State of Tennessee Board of Dietitian/Nutritionist examiners.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Adaptations can be made to accommodate team members with disabilities. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. In a healthcare setting, exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and conditions typical to the field is expected. Routine use of standard medical equipment and tools associated with clinical care is essential.
