Overview Provides clinical nutrition care to patients, demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assessing data reflective of the patients' status, evaluating nutritional status and developing, implementing, monitoring, and documenting nutrition care plans. Serves as a resource with development of age-specific education materials and instruction of dietetic students. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in clinical dietetics. Completion of an American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved dietetic program. Masters Degree preferred. Prefer three to five years clinical experience with two in clinic setting. Must possess thorough knowledge of nutrition assessment and nutrient requirements as well as current theory and practices of dietetics for this patient population. Familiarity with research procedures and protocols desirable. Must be able to maintain CPR certification. Needs strong communication skills and the ability to positively interact with professional and non-professional hospital and health science center personnel. Must be able to participate as a team member of the interdisciplinary team. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Please indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time a RFP is submitted to post the position. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must have passed or be eligible to take the ADA Registration exam. Must be a state of Florida licensed dietitian/nutritionist or be eligible for same. Within six months of starting employment, must have passed both the ADA Registration and become licensed as a dietitian/nutritionist in the state of Florida. Otherwise, failure to do so will result in non-continuation of employment.
