Digital Marketing Intern (Summer start)

The Digital CRM (Customer Relationship Management) team seeks an enthusiastic marketing/marketing communications student to work on our email newsletter program. If you are interested in email marketing, have an excellent eye for detail, have some copywriting skills, and enjoy working with numbers, this could be an exciting opportunity. Our team manages multiple email newsletters that go out to millions of people weekly, providing them with the best content for people 50-plus around health, money, lifestyle, travel, and more. As an intern, you will learn about their production from end to end, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), testing, and using a content management system (CMS). No coding skills are required. This is a paid internship with an anticipated start date of Summer 2025 and an end date of December 2025, and it may have the option to continue for additional semesters. Responsibilities Assisting with newsletter production, including using a content management system, artificial intelligence (AI), article selection, copywriting, image selection, and data analysis Assist with ad-hoc email campaigns, attending kick-off meetings, reviewing creatives, and more Keeping the various internal reports up-to-date and providing regular insights and recommendations to the team Assisting with on-site list growth tactics to help grow the newsletter lists via non-paid tactics Other projects as needed Qualifications Pursuing a degree in marketing or a related field, digital marketing preferred Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program Experience managing projects in a work or classroom setting Ability to work with internal stakeholders, including business unit leads, digital channel leads, and members of the Product, Development, Membership, or Analytics teams Experience creating marketing plans and relevant coursework Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills Strong use of Microsoft Office with Adobe Photoshop is a plus AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories. Compensation and Benefits The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
