Digital Multi-Media Producer
WAVY TV 10 is looking to hire a multi-media digital producer to create specialized content for the station’s digital platforms. This person will use video, images, and interactive elements to produce high-quality, highly consumable, and engaging content for the station's website(s), apps, and social media accounts. This will be a key member of the newsroom’s digital team, who will work alongside and collaborate with WAVY reporters, anchors, producers, and other members of the newsroom to create informative and important coverage for our audience across the Hampton Roads region. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: + Producing videos for digital-first and breaking news stories and edited reports, including various versions for social media. + Working in a fast-paced newsroom, contributing to the editorial process, supporting the digital team and digital goals. + Execute strategies that engage and grow audiences across all digital devices + Actively discovering and creating news content, including articles, photos, videos, social media posts, user-generated content, etc. + Training and supporting station staff with video projects and creative digital storytelling. + Promote news elements from corporate digital content initiatives + Brainstorm and develop tools to streamline WAVY's digital processes + Will be cross-trained and available to fill-in as a Digital Content Producer (publish stories, rank, implement live streams, etc.) as needed. + Other duties as assigned Requirements: + Bachelor's degree in journalism, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferred + Minimum two years' experience in a digital role in a television newsroom preferred + Highly experienced with CMS and other publishing platforms + HTML/XML programming expertise + Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, etc. + Knowledge of OBS functionality a plus + Highly collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented + Impeccable grammar and spelling, and ability to write interesting, understandable copy. + Understanding of the distinct differences between different social media platforms. + Fluency in English, excellent communication skills both verbal and written + Ability to multi-task, deal with extreme deadline pressure, and react/coordinate coverage under live breaking news situations is crucial. + Ability to work extended hours, as needed + Comfortable being on camera.
