CBS News is hiring a digital producer to help with our dayside and weekend coverage! This role will be responsible for writing video headlines and descriptions, writing articles for CBSNews.com and responding quickly to breaking news, crafting push alerts, pitching to partners and running YouTube live streams.

 

The ideal candidate is a skilled video content creator who's comfortable making quick turn-around videos, pitching creative story ideas and meeting deadlines. They should have strong editorial judgement and feel comfortable making real-time decisions and coordinating across departments when needed. They should also have a strong understanding of SEO, using keyword research tools and crafting clickable headlines.

 

The schedule for this role is from Saturday through Wednesday, 7am to 3pm ET. It is currently a hybrid position with at least 2 days/week in office required at present, but subject to change. You may work some holidays and shift your schedule as needed.

  Day-to-day responsibilities

Clip live news coverage, special reports and more from CBS News 24/7 in real-time

Run daily live streams, curate and optimize CBS News’ YouTube channels, writing your own original SEO-friendly headlines and descriptions Create original long and short-form video content, identifying broadcast or stream segments to package for our CBS News YouTube audiences Identify CBS News archives to resurface, working closely with executive producers, rights & clearances, legal and standards teams to ensure content is cleared for publication Write clear, concise, accurate and error-free app, web, Apple News and OTT push alerts that could go out optimally to a wide audience without revisions Write CBSNews.com articles across a wide array of topics, as needed Contribute to analytics reports that are distributed across various verticals and platforms, identifying traffic patterns and sharing suggestions on how to grow traffic   Qualifications

You have 3+ years of experience in a digital breaking news environment and proven ability to react quickly as news develops

Familiarity with the editing software Adobe Premiere You’re a strong writer and self-editor who can move quickly and with precision You're familiar with analytics platforms like Adobe, Chartbeat, YouTube Studio, etc. You know how to craft a compelling headline and description following SEO best practices

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $70,000.00 - 85,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
