SPA's Undersea Platform Analysis Group (UPAG) provides timely, objective, analytic assessments that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis to NAVSEA Team Submarine program offices and key stakeholders surrounding submarine platform construction. Team Submarine unifies submarine platform procurement activities, which includes the Columbia-class SSBN program (a Major Defense Acquisition Program and the Navy’s top acquisition priority), the Virginia-class SSN program and the new SSN-X program (developing the next generation attack submarine), to bring improved capabilities to our undersea forces. Analysts and Engineers supporting Team Submarine will continue SPA’s decades of support to the SSBN force, as well as supporting oversight of cutting-edge attack submarine construction, assisting in developing the design requirements for the SSN platform of the future, and helping plan and execute new and innovative strategies to strengthen the critical submarine shipbuilding industrial base. These are high-profile, major acquisition and manufacturing programs of significant importance to the future capabilities of the US Navy in an era of renewed strategic competition.

ResponsibilitiesThe Digital Product Data Integration Systems Engineer will be responsible for the integration of digital product data in support for the COLUMBIA SSBN Program Office (PMS397).
This role requires an understanding of systems, mechanical, or other relevant field of engineering to support the implementation and integration of digital product data related to the newest class of Navy Strategic Submarines (SSBNs). Responsibilities will include supporting PMS397 in the assessment of the newest digital product data design process, to include the current and future planned capabilities of the design tool(s), and how the data interfaces into other systems and processes, with particular emphasis on understanding impacts to external organizations (NAVSEA, Shipbuilders, maintenance facilities, etc.). The individual will also be expected to support technical reviews and assessments of ship specific design disclosures provided by the shipbuilders to validate compliance with requirements. Additionally, the Systems Engineer will need to understand and translate complex technical problems into leadership-ready briefs, including briefs to clients and senior leadership on analytic findings and progress.
This position is located in Washington DC Navy Yard, with potential for travel.

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or relevant technical field.3+ years in engineering or technical program analysis experienceExperience with Configuration Management; particularly in a software environmentProficient in using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, to analyze and represent data and communicate to decision makers.Current DoD security clearance - minimum Secret, with the ability to maintain it throughout employment.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering, or advanced degrees in a relevant technical field.Experience working with CLB/VA design and engineering processes or IPDE processes and tools.Knowledge of Product Lifecycle management (PLM) software, such as Siemens Teamcenter / NX and Active WorkspaceExperience with and knowledgeable of the Navy requirements and program office organizations and processes.
